Machine Operator
Job Description
We have 2nd shift production openings in a plant that manufactures concrete blocks. Candidates will start training on the 1st shift for up to 3 or 4 weeks before moving to the 2nd shift.
Responsibilities
Observe blocks as they come down the conveyor line and check for quality issues such as cracks, deformed blocks, and missing chunks.
Lift defective blocks off the line and place them in a bin for recycling.
Reposition blocks on the line to ensure proper stacking on the skid.
Sweep up excess aggregate and other materials that fall off the line.
Maintain a clean work area.
Ensure production flows smoothly and assist the operator in fixing any issues by getting tools and supplies.
Hand unload and hand stack blocks if necessary.
Develop mechanical skills to eventually transition into a machine operator role.
Essential Skills
Ability to lift blocks weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read a tape measure.
General production experience.
Mechanical aptitude.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
No certifications required.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Some production or heavy manufacturing experience preferred with at least one year of good job stability.

Work Environment
This company manufactures concrete blocks in a loud, dusty, and dirty environment. The position involves walking along the conveyor line and continually evaluating and inspecting blocks for quality issues. The dress code includes jeans, a t-shirt or long sleeve shirt, steel toe boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
