Community Wellness Partners Maintenance in New Hartford, New York
POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Worker
Position Scope: Assists in the maintenance and repairs of the buildings and grounds, to include plumbing, masonry, carpentry, gardening, painting, refrigeration and basic electrical work.
Qualifications:
High School graduate with courses in shop, or GED, mathematics, mechanics, electricity and general science.
Some experience in maintenance or building trades.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Familiar with the safe and proper use of related equipment
Responsibilities:Performs general maintenance functions such as painting.
Repairs or replaces defective parts.
Basic electrical – Employee must have approval of Operations Manager for safety reasons.
Remove and or replace components and trouble shoot areas needed for repair.
Basic plumbing - Employee must have approval of Operations Manager for safety reasons . Remove and or replace components and trouble shoot areas needed for repair.
Lubricates, cleans or adjusts basic parts and equipment.
Operates fire alarm system, extinguishers, and other building safety systems when required.
Sets up and uses drill press, bench saw, and hand operated electrical tools and safety guards.
Removes snow from walks, fire exits, steps, driveways and parking areas.
Runs errands within and outside of facility.
Transports residents to and from outside activities when necessary. Must be in serviced by transportation department.
Assists in trash and garbage collection, incineration and/or removal from the buildings.
Conducts periodic maintenance as needed.
Maintains grounds including lawns, shrubs, and trees when needed.
Performs and documents preventative maintenance on scheduled equipment.
Works other shifts as directed.
Attends all safety-related in-service classes as required by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
Adheres to the requirements of the Community Wellness Partner’s Safety Program.
Performs other duties as required.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Appropriate professional attire as required by CWP dress code.
Working Conditions
Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
Subject to frequent interruptions.
Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personal.
Communicates with the other departments.
May be asked to work beyond normal working hours.
Attends and participates in in-service educational programs, maintains required hours
Physical and Sensory Requirements: (With or without the aid of mechanical devices)
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be in good health, be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.
Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, angry people within the facility.
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
