Aerotek CNC Machinist in New Hartford, Connecticut

Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

As a Machinist, you will operate various machines, read blueprints, and use measuring instruments. While setup experience is a plus, it is not required for all machinist roles. You will primarily operate mills and lathes, including Mazaks, Mazatrol, and mill and lathe combination machines. Additional machines on the floor include waterjets, horizontal grinders, omni lathes, single disc grinders, horizontal friction grinders, OD grinders, and honing machines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned machines and receive work orders for tasks.

  • For Operator level: Load and unload parts, check parts as directed, report tool breaks, and maintain performance metrics.

  • For Machinist level: Perform machine setups, load programs, ensure machines are dialed in, check first parts, and continue running pieces.

  • Standard setups include touching off tools, loading parts, interpreting blueprints, and correlating prints to machining tasks.

  • Maintain count of parts, manage scrap, and report any tool breaks.

  • Meet performance metrics with support and training from Leads and Supervisors.

  • Communicate any issues to team leads immediately.

  • Complete and set up multiple work orders per day, depending on the cell.

  • Check for tool wear, adjust dimensions as needed, replace tools, and rerun to avoid scrap.

  • Operate machines running G&M code, Fanuc controls, mostly 3-4 axis mills and lathes.

  • Work with steel and aluminum, holding tolerances between +/- .2 and +/- .0005.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience running CNC machines for Operator level.

  • Minimum 2 years of CNC experience and setup knowledge for Machinist level.

  • Proficiency with standard measuring tools like micrometers, drop gauges, and indicators.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings and dimensions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CMM knowledge is helpful but not required.

  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and team player mentality.

  • Good attendance record and positive attitude are essential.

Work Environment

You will work in a clean and organized shop floor with 160 other shop floor employees and 200 total employees in the facility. The schedule includes 1st shift from 7:00am-3:30pm with all training on the first shift, and 2nd shift from 3:00pm-11:30pm. There is some flexibility on shift depending on the need.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Hartford, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
