Purpose of Role

RSO Project Engineers are an integral part of our operations and are responsible for identifying and driving solutions that improve our performance and operational costs throughout the RSO network. RSO Project Engineers are responsible for planning, designing and the implementation of equipment, machinery, and automation. They are expected to work collaboratively with other plant resources such as maintenance techs, production managers, and plant managers to create safe, stable, and reliable processes and systems through the analysis of data and the application of sound engineering practices.

Areas of Accountabilities

Delivers annual improvements of operational costs and metrics

  • Utilize engineering principles such as, problem solving, teamwork, sustainability, and continuous improvement to analyze inefficiencies, safety concerns, and/or operational improvements within the On-sites, RLCs and Torus hub

  • Analyze operations for RSO sites by identifying bottlenecks and redundancies to develop solutions to streamline processes with lasting improvements to operational costs and metrics.

  • Provides technical insight and data to leadership as needed to support improvement projects.

  • Analyzes current plant equipment and develops action plans that generate improved performance and efficiencies to that equipment or process

  • Actively seeks operational gaps and provides insight and recommended actions and/or new automation to local management

    Seeks opportunities in Torus Hub, RLCs, and On-sites to leverage new technology to improve performance, consistency and reduce labor and operations costs.

  • Demonstrates deep and proactive expertise in RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, staying current with the latest developments, trends, and best practices. Serves as a key resource by providing specialized knowledge, guidance, and support to ensure effective implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization of RFID systems across various applications.

  • Continuously looking at existing or new processes and utilizing technologies or automation to drive labor reduction initiatives within the facilities.

  • Performs research and development on cutting edge technologies to improve plant operations

  • Ensure all automation is working properly and to its full extent to maximize return on investment prior to hand off

  • Collaborate with management and project engineering manager on new technology for new and existing services

    Manage engineering projects to be on-time and on-budget

  • Utilize sound project management practices and tools to plan project details, costs and resources needs, and to ensure projects are completed on-time and on-budget.

  • Applies and follows Rehrig Pacific-s CAPEX management processes and accounting practices

  • Manages and communicates with contractors / vendors on and offsite to ensure alignment with safety, project plans, and budgets.

  • Maintains clear alignment with local and Engineering Management

  • Assembles and manages detailed project plans for all projects and drives accountability of defined deliverables

  • Leads plant equipment and automation design and installation in support of new and existing services

  • Effectively manages capacity expansion and equipment replacement/upgrade projects to support organizational goals

  • Collaborate with suppliers and Rehrig-s Safety Team to perform risk assessments of new/current equipment while making improvements and developing training.

  • Develops work instructions, SOPs, and training material for new equipment

    Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Plastics, Manufacturing or equivalent)

  • Project management experience, including project management tools and software

  • Maintain in-depth understanding of facility infrastructure, systems, and equipment

  • Experience with RFID Technology

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma

  • Experience with coding and programming

  • Experience with hand and power tools

  • Excellent communicator (verbal & written) and an ability to summarize and communicate information clearly

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with problem solving terms and tools

  • Highly proficient with MS Office tools

  • Ability to leverage data to drive decisions and project focus

  • Ability and willingness to travel (estimated travel frequency 60%)
