SWCA Ecological Restoration Technician Temporary in New Buffalo, Michigan

About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants' Ecological Restoration Group is looking for additional team members (HR Title: Ecological Restoration Technician) to assist during our 2024 field season. This position will predominantly require work in southwest Michigan, northern Indiana, and the greater Chicago, Illinois (and surrounding) area. This position will require frequent travel to complete restoration projects throughout the Midwest.  This position is a temporary, part time, hourly position.  This position is eligible for our wellness paid time off, employee assistance program and wellness program activities. Work in a team setting to complete ecological restoration tasks  such as native plantings, bank/soil stabilization, wetland enhancement, invasive plant management, vegetation monitoring and data collection. Effectively communicate with other project team members and follow instructions well Implement and complete tasks and responsibilities delegated by Field Supervisors Take positive action and accountability for assigned work Experience and qualifications for success

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field of science (helpful, but not required) At least one year of direct work experience in ecological restoration or landscaping/construction (desired) Experience at working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Ability to effectively execute tasks saqfely, efficiently, and independently Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions Ability to work out-of-town for extended periods to conduct work on various projects Ability to drive a full-size truck with trailer (desired) Previous herbicide application experience (desired) Certified Pesticide Applicators license (desired) Ability to perform herbicide application Previous erosion control experience (desired) Experience operating small equipment such as ATVs/UTVs, chainsaws, brush cutters, mini skid steers, and others (desired) OSHA 10, 30, or 40 hour certification (desired) Flexible during times of change Strong interpersonal skills Must hold a valid driver's license Why Work at SWCA:
