Professionals receiving a doctoral degree in psychology should be capable of extending psychological knowledge and exhibiting the high level of analytic skills and theoretical understanding needed to use existing and emerging psychological knowledge.
Answer is a national organization housed within Rutgers University's Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology that develops and promotes equitable access to sexual health information through youth-centered sex education resources and professional development for youth-serving adults.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Training Coordinator (Sexuality Education Trainer) for GSAPP - ANSWER.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Facilitates high quality workshops on a range of sexuality topics for health professionals, parents and youth.
  • Works with the Assistant Director to develop, pilot, implement and assess a broad spectrum of professional development opportunities to support Answer's organizational commitment to providing medically-accurate, developmentally-appropriate comprehensive sex education to diverse populations.
  • Manages all administrative tasks related to the various training initiatives.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with external audiences.
  • Creates lesson plans.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in human sexuality and training adults is required, as is experience working with teens.
  • Comfort with issues related to adolescent sexuality and ability to work with and respect diverse groups of teens and adults who may hold many different points of view.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship building with a record of accomplishment of leveraging resources to accomplish strategic objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with various audiences including staff, teens, teachers and other youth-serving professionals, foundations, individual donors, advisory board, parents and policy makers.
  • Ability to self-motivate and stay on task in a remote working environment.
  • Familiarity with editing PDFs and creating Google Slides.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education Sexuality, Public Health, Communications or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience working with Public schools and/or public health.
  • Academic/career focus on sexuality education, human sexuality, education or related field.
Equipment Utilized
  • MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
