Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - DS for the department of Dining Services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs a wide range of mechanical maintenance duties required to repair University equipment in good operating condition.
  • Assumes responsibility for estimation of workforce and materials and coordination of the work of the group, in the absence of the authorized lead person.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent plus three years of experience performing mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair work on industrial type motors and pumps.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license with two years driving experience is necessary.
  • Will be required to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be competent in performing complex varied mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair work on industrial-type motors and pumps (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.)
  • Successful completion of an approved training program or of a certified apprenticeship program in the trade may be substituted for the above experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Equipment Utilized
  • Will focus routinely on commercial foodservice equipment; refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, soda distribution systems and Dining infrastructure HVAC; air and water filters, belts, bearings, cooling towers, valves and controls.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Special Conditions
  • Evening, weekend and Occasional Holiday work will be required.
