Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Chief Operating Engineer, CAC CHP for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to the Associate Director, Central Plants, this position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of the College Avenue Central Heating/Cooling Plant, Newell Central Heating/Cooling Plant, Cook Chiller Plant, Walters Hall Central Heating/Cooling Plant, 24 College Avenue Central Heating/Cooling Plant, Murray Hall Central Heating/Cooling Plant, Foran Hall Chilled Water Distribution including associated equipment. Position acts as the Chief of the Busch Cogen Plant in their absence. Incumbent coordinates and manages diverse utility projects.The College Avenue Central Heating/Cooling Plant has the capacity to produce 120,000 lbs. of steam per hour and 1800 tons of refrigeration available. The 24 College Avenue Plant and the Murray Hall Plant have a combined total of 15 Million BTU's/Hour and refrigeration capacity of 850 Tons. The Walters Hall Plant has a heating capacity of 30 Million BTU's/Hour with 700 Tons of refrigeration. The Newell Plant provides 29 Million BTU's/Hour and refrigeration capable of 600 tons. The Cook Chiller Plant has a 2200 Ton refrigeration combined capacity and Foran Hall provides a total of 1500 Tons of refrigeration. There is emergency plant power (College Avenue Plant) capability (500KW generator) in the event of a facility wide power failure.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
