Veterans Employment Base Camp Program Coordinator (Part-time) in New Bern, North Carolina
Veterans Employment Base Camp and Organic Garden (VEBCOG) is seeking a Program Coordinator to assist with our Beginning Farmer and Rancher program. VEBCOG is a means to link the veteran farm and ranch community with the greater agricultural community and a space to share inter-generational knowledge within the farming community and celebrate military culture and horticultural therapy.
We are seeking a dynamic person with agricultural and administrative program experience to complete aspects of the Beginning Farmer and Rancher training program and final stages of workshop/ farm tour planning. In addition, VEBCOG Program coordinator will be expected to organize and coordinate speakers at the garden site, evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Ideal candidates will have experience with military, veterans training, military benefits, and military medical care benefits. Ideal candidates will also have experience working with diverse audiences, interacting with the public and coordinating program speakers. The Veterans Program Coordinator will work under the direction of the Executive Director and will monitor the program process with University staff, USDA agencies and program participants.
Location Work will occur primarily at the Veterans Employment Base Camp and Organic Garden located at 1235 Pollock St. New Bern, NC 28560 and online.
Compensation and Hours This is a part-time position requiring 25 hours per week $16.00 per hour.
Experience/Skills Have knowledge and experience within the following areas:
- Coordination of logistics for program events
- Schedule meeting, booking venues and transportation
- Agricultural background or degree
- Microsoft Word, Power-points and Excel a must
- Computer skills for researching and communicating by e-mail.
- Work outdoors in weather.
- Highly organized with good communication skills.
- Self-directed and motivated
- Adaptability, creativity, and independence.
- Experience in cross-cultural environments, and with multiple age groups.
