Manufacturing Engineer IINew Bern, NC / Full-time

Your responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Engineer provides manufacturing engineering services supplied as part of the manufacturing engineering department to the assigned value stream or site. The manufacturing engineer supports production equipment, operations and processes. The manufacturing engineer designs, installs, maintains and improves the efficiency of production equipment, systems, and processes as it relates to safety, quality, delivery and cost.Actively manages smooth incorporation of engineering changes into production.

  • Designs and establishes work instructions per ISO requirements.
  • Monitors systems regularly using Key Performance Indicators like OEE, Equipment Availability, and FPY.
  • Maintains accurate facility layouts in AutoCAD.
  • Drives and supports improvement of First Pass Yield, Final Audit Failure Rates, and TCR.
  • Designs, evaluates and improves safety and ergonomics of work stations and processes.
  • Designs, implements and improves material handling systems in support of lean manufacturing principles using analysis techniques (process flow charting and simplified handling analysis).
  • Generates and implements cost saving ideas.
  • Maintains data in automated systems on the production floor and ensure availability of parameters for engineering changes.
  • Uses data analysis/SPC to drive improvements.
  • Incorporates lean manufacturing principles in all areas of responsibility.
  • Creates and evaluates a value stream map and design.
  • Design and develop new equipment and fixturing to improve manufacturing operations.
  • Leads continuous improvement projects within our factory.
  • Studies product requirements, designs process/mathematical models to meet those requirements, and implements process changes.
  • Acts as participant, facilitator or leader of cross-functional teams.
  • Performs work under minimal supervision.
  • Handles moderately complex to complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to Engineer I.
  • Occasionally analyze, discuss, and solve complex engineering problems with sub-contractors and suppliers to avoid supply shortages and factory shutdowns

Your profile

  • Bachelors degree (Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field of study from an accredited school) - Required
  • 3-5 Years of Experience (Working experience in manufacturing (discrete manufacturing environment preferred)) - Required
  • Technical knowledge of manufacturing or assembly processes and machinery
  • Enterprise resource planning system experience (SAP preferred)
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Proficient use of 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (AutoCAD, Siemens NX, or Solidworks, etc)
  • Exposure to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Experience with Data collection methods and statistical analysis
  • Understanding of Measurement system analysis
  • Understanding of Statistical process control
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc)
  • Travel Percentage - 10%
