SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Quality Technician is responsible for conducting product specific testing procedures and quality equipment verifications during the blow molding process. This role will ensure that all product manufactured complies within customer specific product specifications. The Quality Technician will aid the operation in identifying any food safety or non-conformance issues while enforcing adherence to customer quality requirements by verifying that all internal and external quality requirements are being met.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow all internal safety procedures and policies to keep a clean and organized work area in our active, fast-paced, team driven environment.

  • Perform in-process inspections, measurements, and auxiliary equipment audits to ensure product is manufactured within customer specifications.

  • Confirm that manufactured product is being packaged and labeled using the correct corrugate, strapping and stacking orientations.

  • Utilize the RedZone system to document written communication of discovered internal product defects and actions needed to resolve the non-conformance.

  • Record Quality verification results in the RedZone system highlighting any discovered defects, non-conformances, or process deviations.

  • Ensure product deemed to be non-conforming is physically and systemically held to prevent customer exposure to defects.

  • Participate in root-cause corrective action discussions, defect origin research, improvement implementations and high-level reporting for external customer complaints.

  • Verify molding machines and supporting equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to ISO22000, HACCP and internal food safety cleanliness procedures prior to molder changeovers and restarting of equipment.

  • Support in the direction, organization, and maintaining of high output performance during non-conforming product rework initiatives.

  • Update the Quality specification boards to showcase product being manufactured, product specification sheets, past non-conformance information, and other visual aids.

  • Assist in new product qualifications and implementations by reviewing specification details and training floor members on the specific quality requirements.

  • Operate, verify, and support in maintaining quality specific equipment such as weight scales, vision systems, date coders, leak detectors, etc.

  • Maintain professional verbal and written communication at all levels of the operation as well as with other internal and external customers.

  • Actively Work with Operations floor leadership to determine future best practices and quality procedures to prevent future internal holds, external customer returns and facility scrap loss.

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned to support filling operations gaps and contributing to overall process improvement.

  • Compliance to GMP, Food Safety, and Food Quality regulations as required by the company, customers, and/or government agencies.

  • Always be willing to help other support other teams with open tasks and projects.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • At least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment actively working with relatable quality control practices.

  • Sense of anticipation to identify future non-conformance issues and sense of urgency to introduce a procedure countermeasure to avoid that possibility.

  • High integrity and fanatical focus on each customer ensuring that any service provided is within their defined requirements.

  • Ability to work both independently and in an active team atmosphere, ensuring that time, projects, and deadline commitments are met.

  • Skilled in risk assessment determination and decision making to reduce or eliminate internal and external customer exposure to product non-conformances.

  • Competent and skilled in math and taking measurements (such as using a caliper) with experience utilizing visual inspection skills while relying on strong attention to detail.

  • Must be able to safely operate touch-sensitive, highly automated technical equipment related to the Quality Technician role.

  • Proven capability to read and write in English to accurately understand and interpret customer specification sheets, packaging information, internal work instructions, etc.

  • Maintain a “questioning mindset,” by actively listening, learning, and challenging quality process gaps creating future opportunities to improve.

  • Understanding of computer functions and Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word, TEAMS, and Power point)

  • Experience using Apple iPads and Apple based programs preferred.
