Ahead LLC Carpenter Apprentice in New Bedford, Massachusetts

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Carpenter Apprentice, you will assist in building and repairing retail display fixtures. This role is ideal for former vocational students with a focus on carpentry or entry-level carpenters with relevant work experience.  The position offers an opportunity for growth and skill development under the guidance of experienced professionals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSABILITIES:

 

  • None

    DUTIES/RESPONSABILITIES :

     

  • Assist with building wooden retail display fixtures

  • Assist with repairing damaged fixtures.

  • Prepare and stage fixtures for golf events.

  • Support plant maintenance when involving construction tasks.

  • Help with PGA Show preparation.

  • Learn and apply carpentry skills under guidance of experienced professionals

  • Additional duties as assigned.

    MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with PGA Show set up

  • Support finishers when additional help is needed

    REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Aptitude to build from sketches/blueprints.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Must possess initiative, energy and drive.

  • Ability to multi-task under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Understanding of Woodworking shop safety.

  • Basic familiarity with hand tools and machinery, including:

  • Panel Saw

  • Table Saw

  • Edge Bander

  • Drill/Driver

  • Sanders

  • Hand Tools

  • Drill Press

  • Band Saw

  • Router

  • Jig Saw

  • Shaper

  • Air Nailer

     EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Vocational school with carpentry focus, or relevant entry-level experience in carpentry/woodworking, or

  • Carpenter assistant with actual work experience

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time.

  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, touch, pinch or grasp.

  • Frequently required to reach above shoulders.

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.

  • Frequently required to stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl.

  • Frequently required to lift or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Sometimes required to lift or move more than 100 pounds.

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

     

  • Exposure to loud noise levels.

  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

  • Exposure to extreme cold or heat.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.

    VISION REQUIREMENT:

  • Close and distance vision.

  • Color vision.

  • Peripheral vision.

  • Depth perception.

  • Ability to adjust focus.

    PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • Safety Glasses.

  • Dust masks and earplugs.

    TRAVEL

  • Ability to travel as needed; anticipated 4 times per year; including some weekends and for extended duration. Travel can include trade shows and sales meetings including set up and working these events

    SCHEDULE:

  • 7:30 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday with Overtime (Saturday 7am – noon) as required
