The Position

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is located in a rural area and the incumbent must live in the area. State housing is not available. This position provides training to all employees within the sub district. Coordinates training schedules, provides instruction in traffic control, yard safety inspections and investigates vehicle and personal injuries. Provides new hire orientation and a third party certifier for CDL holders. Maintains training files on all personnel, driving records, and physical examinations. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience operating a variety of complex highway construction and maintenance equipment; OR three years of experience as Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A valid Nevada Class A, Commercial Driver's License (CDL), is required within 6 months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law required random testing for controlled substances during employment.

Additional Position Criteria

A valid class A is required within 6 months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Third-Party Certification from the Department of Motor Vehicles is required, age requirement is 25 years old.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
