The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2024-06, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL DECEMBER 31st, 2024. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for a full-time Accounting Assistant 2 in Carson City, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following programs: Fiscal and Nevada Early Intervention Services (NEIS).
Incumbents will manually or electronically code and prepare voucher payable documents for a limited variety of general ledger groups and or categories according to standard procedures; review accounting documents by comparing the data on the document with back-up information to substantiate claims from vendors and clients. Incumbents should have basic knowledge of excel, perform input and retrieval functions on a work computer or mainframe terminal; manipulate information in the computer via spreadsheet, word processing or database computer programs to record, organize, track, report and verify financial information as required. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.Additional Position Criteria
