Forestry Project Manager- Limited Term OES

This is an innovative opportunity to for a qualified Registered Professional Forester (RPF) to join our team!
The Office of Emergency Services (OES) is currently handling a grants' portfolio nearing $70 million including large scale impact mitigation projects that are directly tied to protecting life and property throughout Nevada County. Having resources to lead these projects, expeditiously complete environmental analysis/reporting, and have these resources accessible to partners and the public is a high priority.
Primary position functions:
Design, implement and administer wildland fire prevention goals and objectives
Design and implement strategic community and landscape-level projects that create heathier forest ecosystems and reduce wildfire risk
Interpret local, state, and federal laws, regulations and policies
Conduct and oversee environmental analysis of projects and obtain all necessary permits required
Complete categorical exemptions, internal studies, rights of entry, etc.
Assist with departments grant program including writing, project management, and administration
Community and stakeholder engagement and education
Create and monitor contracts and agreements
Conduct field inspections and site tours
The RPF is an important position for supporting OES in achieving grant-funded mitigation goals across Nevada County. This position is designed for college graduates who are experienced in report writing and project management. In addition to a Bachelor’s degree in forestry, public administration, engineering, environmental and/or climate studies, physical and/or biological sciences, natural resource management, fire science or related field from an accredited college or university, the ideal candidate will also be l icensed as a Registered Professional Forester by the California State Board of Forestry with two or more years of experience facilitating and/or managing planning, fire, emergency preparedness, forestry, environmental, engineering or closely related projects and/or programs. Managerial and supervisorial experience is highly desirable.

Retirement
The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
