Wisconsin Public Service Operator and Maintenance Technician RICE in Negaunee, Michigan
WPS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seekingOperator and Maintenance Technician - RICEpositions in ourNegaunee and Pelkie, MI locations.These are shift workers on a variable schedule. The schedule will rotate week to week between day and afternoon shifts.
The company expects this position will be represented by a union. At this time the company plans to offer terms consistent with its contract with Local 420 but those terms may change if it is determined a different union represents employees in the position.
Job Summary
The Operator and Maintenance Technician - RICE ensures the safe, reliable, compliant and economical generation of electricity by inspecting and maintaining reciprocating internal combustion engine (RICE) generating station, auxiliary equipment, structures and grounds during routine, abnormal or emergency conditions. The primary duty is to perform local operation and mechanical maintenance on all equipment and auxiliary systems.
Job Responsibilities
Maintain RICE generating station in accordance with approved procedures and established targets for safety, plant reliability, availability, output, efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Perform preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance duties on equipment and systems associated with RICE generating stations.
Operate and use measuring devices and other specialized tools required to maintain RICE generating station.
Follow all safety related processes and procedures including, but not limited to: energy control; confined space; hot work.
Perform local operation of RICE generating station by qualifying for operational duties, performing local operational duties, interfacing with Green Bay Remote Operations on operational requirements and responding to call outs.
Ensure compliance with air permit limits, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans and applicable NERC requirements.
Operational duties include, but not limited to: inspections of powerhouse, associated equipment, grounds and substations; monitoring operational data; reporting normal and irregular data.
Minimum Experience Required
Required Education
Associate Degree in the area of Electric Power Technology, Industrial Mechanical Maintenance, Electromechanical Technology, Utilities Engineering Technology, Large Engine Mechanic
OR
Equivalent Armed Forces training
OR
Journeyman status in mechanical related field
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Required Experience
5 years maintenance experience in an industry that utilizes similar equipment and/or processes.
2 years of power generation operational experience or equivalent.
Valid Drivers License
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with operation of RICE power generation preferred.
A journeyman card in a mechanical related trade is preferred.
