Position Summary/Description:

The Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center ( LCCC ) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to hire a full-time Project Manager to support the advancement of the mission of breast cancer research. Reporting to the assigned faculty member, the successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day organizational, operational and project management work of ongoing research. Duties include project oversight, working in collaboration with key stakeholders, managing project design and implementation, facilitating discussions with administrative and clinical project partners, provide oversight of the overall project progress and goals, and assisting with budgetary management. Additional duties include oversight of protocol development and monitoring, working in collaboration with investigators, regulatory staff and study teams to develop study protocol, oversee the IRB submission process of applications and modifications, manage study-related communications across the research study team, partners, and relevant key stakeholders, oversee study timelines and research activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, standard operation procedures (SOPs), study protocols, and overall research objectives.

This Project Manager position will also entail the management and development of research databases for a variety of project types (i.e., retrospective and prospective translational and clinical studies), primary data collection (including via medical chart review), and database management/maintenance. Strong acumen with molecular epidemiology expertise when developing manuscripts, conference presentations, website content and research grant applications is needed. As the needs of the study evolves, this position may additionally train and supervise research assistants, students, and/or temporary employees as assigned; oversee the process of recruitment, enrollment, and retention of study participants; identify, evaluate, and modify data collection methodologies; and prepare study-related enrollment and retention reports to present findings.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience with REDCap is preferred.

  • Preference will be given to the candidate with the following relevant experience:

Managing multi-site or multidisciplinary research projects; conducting literature reviews; grant writing; analyzing quantitative data using Stata or SAS ; preparing reports to funding agencies, including the National Institutes of Health; preparing and managing research budgets; preparing and submitting manuscripts for publication; and preparing reports and applications to institutional review boards (IRBs).

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with molecular epidemiology expertise.
