Position Summary/Description:

The Associate Director for Research Funding and Strategy will serve in a leadership capacity and with a primary function to sustain and enhance the Gillings School of Global Public Health’s and the Collaborative Studies Coordinating Center’s (CSCC’s) comprehensive research portfolio, which currently totals $32 million for the CSCC and $280 million for the School. The position will work with faculty from across the Gillings School of Global Public Health to identify opportunities to expand current projects as well as opportunities for collaboration within the school and across campus.

This position will identify funding opportunities, serve as the primary point of contact for initial discussions, function as a proposal manager, support the development of strategic roadmaps for center funding, oversee the administrative aspects of research projects at the CSCC , develop resource planning model for staff and faculty, and support faculty in growing their grantsmanship.

To support ongoing collaborations at UNC -CH and across the UNC System, the position must also serve as a liaison across the Schools of Public Health, Medicine, Pharmacy, and other institutions in the University of North Carolina system. This will include: interfacing with investigators at UNC and other academic organizations, evaluate relationships and developing partnerships with various parties in the UNC environment, create and present proposals for the CSCC and UNC to sponsors, and providing support to the School of Public Health’s research office as needed.

Education and Experience:

Experience working in a NIH - or PCORI -funding Coordinating Center environment with a large portfolio.

Degree in Public Health, Communications or related field preferable.
