Position Summary/Description:

The Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center laboratory is seeking a Research Associate to conduct scientific research in the Earp Lab. This Research Associate will independently guide assay development, immune assays, genomic analysis, and preclinical in vivo assessment of therapeutic agents targeting receptor and intracellular tyrosine kinases. This position will also be expected to write manuscripts and contribute to writing grant applications. Additionally, this position requires high level expertise in conducting complex experimental assays. The lab identified has studied several RTK genes, including MerTK, for 20 years and is now using genetically engineered mice and chemical agents to understand their mechanism of action. These kinases have roles in the mouse innate immune system and in neoplastic cells. Assays of MerTK action in human samples will also be developed. Expertise in immune analysis, genomic analysis and biochemical, molecular assays are areas of interest. Experience with mouse models of cancer is highly desired.

Education and Experience:

  • Postdoctoral experience is desired but not required.

  • Experience in grant writing.

Essential Skills:

  • PhD or advanced degree in Biomedical Science or related field.

  • Relevant experience in industry or academia with a range of immune, molecular, cellular, and animal model experimentation experience required.
