Naval Education and Training Command TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in Naval Station Complex, California
Summary You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the SURFACE WARFARE OFFICER SCHOOL COMMAND of SURFACE WARFARE OFFICERS SCHOOL. Responsibilities You will provide curriculum analysis, development and instruction applicable to Basic Division Officer Course (BDOC) focusing on Navigation, Seamanship and Shiphandling (NSS), and Bridge Resource Management (BRM). You will assist the N71 Directorate with Technical Equipment management. You will be required to operate and instruct in the Conning Officer Virtual Environment (COVE) shiphandling and Voyage Management System (VMS) simulators. You will assemble and analyze course reviews upon completion of each course using information compiled for student critiques, instructor evaluations and command monitors. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing instruction/training on navigation, seamanship, and shiphandling; 2) Utilizing electronic ship systems to perform ship operations; 3) Performing training course management such as curriculum development, course schedules, course revisions, and student management; and 4) Utilizing simulators and other computer-based shiphandling training systems to provide hands-on instruction for students.
