United States Fleet Forces Command ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER in Naval Shipyard, Virginia

Summary You will serve as an ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER in the Calibration Laboratory Branch (Code 13 7.1), Regional Metrology & Calibration Division (Code 137), Quality Assurance Office (Code 130), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will select, set up, calibrate, install, and operate a variety of precision measurement equipment including special test consoles and mockups in support of laboratory testing and calibration tests. You will calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, modify, test and certify a wide variety of the most complex precision Test and Monitoring Systems (TAMS), instruments and instrumentation systems employing the latest state of the art technology. You will analyze, isolate and repair component malfunctions. You will develop detailed schematics, drawings, and calibration procedures for use by lower graded workers. You will analyze test results and assess setup problems to support higher level technician in research and testing projects and assist in the developmental testing of equipment, e.g., radar, communications, traffic control, guidance, etc You will provide training and/or on the job instruction to lower-level artisans in metrology practices, proper use and operation of complex standards, proper troubleshooting techniques, and in mathematical calculations. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Experience in the operation, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and other related electronic test equipment. Experience identifying and solving complex technical issues with various electronic systems and equipment, including both hands-on repairs and strategic problem-solving to optimize workflow and laboratory performance. Experience prioritizing tasks and managing a team in a way that ensures deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained or surpassed. Knowledge of Electronic Measurement Equipment, Electronic theory and test equipment set-ups to assist in the testing of new and unusually complex equipment. Experience interacting with team members, supervisors, upper management, and other departments, as well as documenting calibration problems and effectively reporting issues to engineering.
