Military Sealift Command PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in Naval Base, Virginia
Summary You will serve as a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Branch Norfolk (N0211), Security Division (N021), Office of Chief of Staff (N02), of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND. Responsibilities You will assist the Personnel Security Manager in administering all aspects of a diversified Command Personnel Security Program. You will inspect and evaluate the Personnel Security Program for MSC and serviced activity Commands. You will initiate, receive and review background investigations and make initial security credentialing, recommendations, and initiates any additional investigation or inquiry required for submission to the Office of Personnel management (OPM). You will conduct security training sessions during Orientation, education and training program for the protection of classified information, You will review complex personnel security recommendations for cases involving a variety of derogatory information, conflicting or inconclusive information. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience initiating, receiving, and reviewing background investigations (BI), including Secret T3/ANACI equivalents and Top Secret T5. Experience determining background investigation (BI) requirements and clearance levels by initiating investigation applications (SF-86) via the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) / Electronic Application (e-APP) system. Experience using the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) to process personnel security actions. Experience interpreting regulations and directives related to security policies and procedures. Experience conducting security training sessions and delivering annual refresher briefing training.
