Commander, Navy Installations LEAD CARGO SCHEDULER in Naval Base, Virginia
Summary You will serve as a LEAD CARGO SCHEDULER in the AIR TERMINAL OPERATIONS DIVISION of NAVAL AIR TERMINAL. Responsibilities You will compute configurations (e.g., weight and balance requirements, weight and size of cargo compartments) to ensure cargo is balanced on an aircraft. You will monitor special handling cargo (e.g., explosives, perishables, biologicals, outsized cargo with peculiar size, weight, or shape) to recommend changes in types of aircraft or rerouting. You will complete documentation required by each cargo loading or scheduling mission. You will review on hand port levels for each destination and actual assigned airlift capability. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Coordinating the movement of cargo/freight into, out of, or through terminals; 2) Utilizing knowledge of transportation industry/regulations to analyze and resolve routine problems of a procedural or factual nature; 3) Planning cargo loads (e.g., freight, mail and passengers) for departing aircraft; and 4) Using automated systems to input, research and analyze transportation-related data.
