Military Sealift Command FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN in Naval Base, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN in the COMPTROLLER DEPARTMENT (N8), ACCOUNTING FINANCIAL EXECUTION (N82), FINANCIAL EXECUTION (N822), ACCOUNTS PAYABLE (N8223) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND. Responsibilities You will perform account maintenance and accounting support work to examine, verify and maintain and reconcile accounts and accounting data, prepare and analyze reports. You will determine pay, payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to civilian employees of the Federal Government. You will answer requests and provide advice to employees, supervisors, staff in other financial management series and personnel specialists on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures. You will establish, maintain, correct and close pay accounts for active, reserve, or retired armed forces personnel and their annuitants. You will perform technician work in support of budget analysis and administration such as maintaining ledgers, budget formulation, compiling, consolidating, checking and arranging funding data. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-06 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing account maintenance and accounting support work; Utilizing accounting systems, policies, and procedures to examine, verify, maintain, reconcile accounts and accounting data; Examining documents for accuracy, adequacy of documentation, compliance with regulations for goods and services; Performing work to establish, maintain, correct and close pay accounts; and performing technician work in support of budget analysis and administration such as maintaining ledgers, budget formulation, compiling, consolidating, checking and arranging funding data; Determining pay, payroll records maintenance and completing payroll reports; and Answering requests and providing advice to employees, supervisors on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures. GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. OR Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
