Naval Supply Systems Command MAIL ASSISTANT in Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland
Summary You will serve as a Mail Assistant of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF. Responsibilities You will direct local mail support services provided to include sort, consolidate, meter, and forward all incoming and outgoing mail from the U.S. Postal Service. You will provide on-site direction to mail operations and services. You will collect and analyze information in order to monitor and evaluate mail practices. You will determine mail routing by tenant commands and department codes. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating knowledge and experience of Federal and/or US Postal System regulations and policies in order to process all inbound and outbound mail to include various categories of mail such as registered, certified, insured, and special handling. Specialized experience also includes a practical knowledge and experience applying methods and techniques of mail management to gather, analyze and evaluate information concerning administrative functions and mail management processes in order to make recommendations to improve program processes. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Provide on -site direction of mail services support to include the control, processing, and delivery of incoming mail; 2) Recognize and exercise various control procedures and regulations required for the control of special communications for both incoming and outgoing mail such as registered, certified, security, classified, priority, etc.; 3) Maintain strict security and safeguarding for all types of mail, examining for tampering, damage, and compliance in regulations; 4) Maintain automated mail management and/or inventory records and collect and maintain data for preparation of reports.
