*JOB SUMMARY *



This position is integral to the success of the Ethics and Compliance Program. The VP, E&C is responsible for the Internal Compliance Reporting Process, enterprise-wide Ethics Line operations, government payer payment denial appeals, and sustainability program. The VP also serves as the subject matter expert on foreign anticorruption issues, government contracts and grants.

*MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES * * Oversees the Internal Compliance Reporting process and team. * Oversees enterprise-wide Ethics Line operations and personnel: including setting policy, counseling, approving case closure, guiding investigations, assessing the appropriateness of any corrective action, handling relationships with vendors, and reporting to management. * Oversees enterprise-wide payment denial appeals at Medicare level three and higher and Medicaid appeals when the process starts to look like an administrative hearing: including obtaining contract personnel, setting policy and appeal thresholds, identifying and overseeing outside counsel when necessary, developing recurring arguments to be advanced, advise on appropriateness of settlements, identifying and contracting with case management software vendors, and reviewing adverse decisions to identify trends. * Oversees enterprise-wide sustainability program and dedicated personnel: serving on Sustainability Steering Committee, guiding efforts to remain within the realm of achievable, and representing the enterprise at industry-wide functions. * Approves or disapproves the retention of foreign based agents and the employment of individuals who are or are related to foreign government employees. * Provides advice and develops guidance regarding entering into government contracts or grants. * Prepares and monitors the budgets, home office cost statement unallowable costs submissions, and accruals for the Ethics & Compliance, Sustainability, and Stark Legal Opinions departments. * Performs other duties as assigned * Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.”

*EDUCATION * Juris Doctorate Required

*EXPERIENCE * 5 Years of experience in a leadership role Required

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of proper criminal and civil investigative techniques Ability to independently conduct an investigation Ability to brief investigative results to management and government investigators Ability to work with tight deadlines Knowledge of EMTALA, Stark and Antikickback statutes and controlled substance diversions
