Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY

Provide, under direct supervision, support for specified research projects; collect, assess, and communicate data/results. Assist in general laboratory operation and inventory.

This key Psychiatry research assistant will work in Dr. Blythe Corbett’s SENSE lab at Vanderbilt University on a longitudinal study of youth with and without autism spectrum disorder.

The SENSE lab is interested in psychological, physiological, and social functioning over the development in girls with autism spectrum disorder, typical development and those with intellectual disability. Responsibilities include conducting screening, recruiting, consent, neuropsychological assessment, data entry, data management, and psychosocial stress protocols.

To qualify, one must have earned BA/BS degree, preferably in psychology or neuroscience, and strong organizational and data management skills. While not required, experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly preferred. The candidate must maintain accurate and timely documentation and communication with investigators, participants, and IRB; and be comfortable interacting with children and adults.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following include many of the roles and responsibilities:

  • Perform psychosocial/neuropsychological assessments on girls with and without autism spectrum disorder

  • Subject recruitment

  • Coordinating multiple lab visits

  • Assist with imaging studies

  • Conduct behavioral studies

  • Perform data management. Enter data into REDCap, MS-Excel, MS-Word.

  • Assist in designing forms for scientific data collection. Update data consistently. Assist in preparation of data for statistical analysis and graphic display. Assist investigators in preparing the data for presentations/publications.

  • Assist investigator in submission of grants.

  • Order and maintain inventory of supplies.

  • Share responsibility for general tasks of daily activities of the research unit, including telephone services, photocopying, and filing.
