Job Summary and Qualifications
The Manager within the Ethics Line team manages internal investigations of ethics or compliance related concerns reported or referred the HCA Healthcare Ethics and Compliance department. The Manager has responsibility for the life cycle of the investigation from intake through resolution. The Manager completes detailed reviews of cases upon completion of the investigation to ensure consistent, thorough and detailed investigation outcomes
General Responsibilities
-Manages the internal investigation of ethics or compliance related concerns reported or referred to the HCA Healthcare Ethics Line.
--Provides direct the internal investigation of ethics or compliance related concerns reported or referred to the HCA Healthcare Ethics Line.
-Reviews initial intake report of concerns for sufficiency of information and determines appropriate methods for obtaining additional information, if needed, to develop an investigative plan or resolve the concerns.
-Conducts initial interview of the individual reporting a concern to determine the nature and scope of the investigation.
-Assigns cases to appropriate investigators or investigation group(s), including but not limited to Ethics and Compliance Officers, Human Resources, Legal, Information Protection & Security, Clinical Services Group, etc. and collaborate with assigned investigator(s) as needed to determine the next steps in the investigation and timeline for resolution.
-Prepares investigation instructions and plans and provides additional investigation guidance or direction to assigned investigator(s), as needed
- Ensures investigations are completed timely and thoroughly and cures deficiencies, as needed.
-Documents investigation activity, outcomes and resolutions accurately and professionally in the case management system, including but not limited to correspondence and communications with individuals involved and any reports, records, documentation or other information received related to the investigation.
-Completes detailed reviews of cases upon completion of investigation, validating consistent, thorough, and detailed investigation outcomes
-Summarizes case allegations, investigation outcomes and resolutions in a clear and concise
- Prepares investigation reports, executive case summaries, closing memoranda, statistical reporting and analysis and other administrative documents related to the investigation and case management
-Monitors the case management system to ensure investigations are completed timely and documented accurately, maintain the integrity of the data and identify risks or adverse trends.
- Recognizes resolves and/or escalates deficiencies in the investigation, outcome, corrective action or any significant trends to the Assistant Vice President or Vice President timely.
-Conducts presentations, education and training for internal investigators and assists in development of policies and procedures for the Ethics Line operations, as needed.
Education &Experience
Bachelors Degree Required
Masters Degree Preferred
5+ years of experience in law, regulatory compliance, or internal investigations in matrix organization
Preferred Skills
Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive matters with a high degree of integrity and discretion
Excellent communication skills including written and verbal communication whether in-person or in a virtual environment
Organized and detail-oriented
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Self- Motivated and can work independently while also contributing collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Able to thrive in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment
Excellent computer skill, including proficiency in Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Power Bi, and database systems, etc
