Position Description
This position functions as a 3rd Shift Warrant and Bond Clerk for the Criminal Court Clerk. The assigned shift will be 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off or 10 p.m. - 8 a.m. with Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays off. Warrant and Bond Clerks perform clerical duties that include processing of bonds, creating new cases, scheduling cases for court, answering inquiries from both the general public and other departments concerning criminal cases and bonds, maintaining various arrest and release records, and accurately reviewing court decrees and orders to ensure the court's rules, judgments, and directions are followed before releasing. They also verify, process, and deliver documents such as arrest warrants and subpoenas to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) and committal/release documents to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office (DCSO). This position has significant responsibility in ensuring that a defendant is not mistakenly released or held in jail longer than is needed.
This is a Non-Civil Service position in a 24/7 office. Applicants must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and on days of inclement weather.
Typical Duties
Operates various office computer applications, including credit card transactions.
Verifies and enters data.
Prepares receipt and distribution of bail posted and various fees and payments.
Verifies defendant bond information; confirms agents and respective bonding company in good standing.
Researches records to provide correct information to the public and other government departments.
Prepares appropriate court documents; collects/deposits cash in appropriate places.
Verifies process and delivers an assortment of documents, including arrest warrants and subpoenas to Metro Nashville Police Department and committal/release documents to Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
Follows complex written and oral instructions.
Reads decrees and court orders; ensures rules, judgments & directions of the court are followed.
Researches and locates documents needed for court or secondary arrests (probation & bond condition violations warrants, capiases, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Tennessee Driver’s License or State Issued ID
- Candidate is subject to standardized background investigation

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to perform simple arithmetical computations
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner
Preference may be given to those who speak Spanish
