Amazon is seeking a highly motivated Carrier Safety Analyst to join our NA Surface Transportation Safety & Compliance team. Our ideal candidate is passionate about safety and compliance and possesses a strong road transport accident investigation background. They will have experience interviewing drivers, identifying causal and contributory factors, and using Microsoft Excel. Key job responsibilities
Conduct crash investigations verifying the details of what happened and determining why it happened
Compile crash data information to make recommendations regarding carrier actions that are within our policies
Take ownership of reporting processes to ensure that each report is accurate and timely with a high degree of customer focus in resolving data discrepancies
Respond to follow up carrier inquiries regarding crashes or suspensions
Possess a working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA(R) rules, regulations, and record keeping
Foster a culture of continuous improvement with our processes and policies
History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
Willingness to work overtime in order to accomplish time sensitive tasks
Enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in either written or electronic form.
Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing follow written and/or oral instructions, arrange, coordinate, or schedule time and details.
Inspect various motor vehicles, including mechanical condition of trucks and equipment and driver's records
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
Schedule and conduct inspections and/or investigations.
Maintain detailed inspection or investigation records, prepare reports, and attend to other related administrative requirements.
Write or draft correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
Conduct safety audits, job hazard analysis, risk assessments, and be involved in decision-making processes.
Possess a working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures and read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, SOPs and/or procedures that ensure compliance with contract terms.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent Diploma
5+ years of experience with Microsoft Office programs
1+ year in vendor relations experience
Experience conducting over the road crash investigations, researching and gathering information in support of non-compliance issues principles, theories, and practices with a CMV safety regulatory focus.
Knowledge of motor carrier programs with an emphasis on motor carrier enforcement programs and applicable regulations.
Skill and ability in using program management principles and practices (e.g. strategic planning, setting and communicating goals, adjusting to changing priorities, implementing/ evaluating programs, assessing the impact of new legislation on programs, etc.) to administer transportation safety programs and related technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Knowledge of SQL
Experience working directly with FMCSA
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel , including VBA
Training in crash investigations
