Job Summary and Qualifications
The Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Business Continuity & Emergency Operations plays a critical role in supporting the organization's resilience and preparedness across all facilities and business units. This position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HCA Healthcare's enterprise-wide business continuity and emergency operations programs. The AVP will collaborate with executive leadership, operational teams, and external partners to proactively identify and mitigate risks, effectively manage crises, and ensure the seamless continuity of clinical care and business operations.
This position is Nashville, TN based. You must be located in Nashville and/or willing to relocate. Up to 25% travel required.
Key Responsibilities:
•Program Support: Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive, enterprise-wide business continuity and emergency operations strategy aligned with HCA Healthcare's strategic goals and objectives.
•Program Management: Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of business continuity and disaster recovery programs across all facilities and business units, in collaboration with other essential and primary functional unit leadership.
•Risk Management: Contribute to the identification, assessment, and mitigation of potential threats and operational vulnerabilities, including but not limited to: natural & man-made disasters, downtime events, pandemics, and operational failures.
•Risk Mitigation: Assist ITG and other business owners in the oversight and ongoing evaluation of potential concentrations of risk related to mission critical technologies, vendors, locations or processes, and related mitigation strategies, including close coordination regarding ITG-led enterprise operational resiliency initiatives.
•Policy & Standards: Support the establishment and enforcement of enterprise-wide business continuity policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Co-chair the Clinical Downtime Council, and other relevant councils or committees.
•Crisis Management: Assist in the organization's response to major incidents and crises, coordinating resources, activating business continuity plans, and managing recovery efforts.
•Training & Awareness: Contribute to the development and delivery of engaging training programs to cultivate a culture of preparedness and ensure all staff understand their roles in business continuity and emergency operations.
•Testing & Exercises: Assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of regular drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of business continuity plans and maintain organizational readiness.
•Vendor Management: Support the management of relationships with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure their business continuity capabilities align with HCA Healthcare's standards.
•Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the monitoring, evaluation, and enhancement of the effectiveness of business continuity programs, leveraging data-driven insights and industry best practices.
•Communication & Reporting: Provide regular updates to executive leadership and stakeholders on the status of business continuity programs, risks, and recovery efforts.
•Stakeholder Engagement: Assist in building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community organizations.
Qualifications:
•Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, IT Management or a related field with 10+ years of progressive experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, or a related field, with at least 5 years in an operational leadership role within a large, complex organization, preferably in the healthcare industry.
•Relevant certifications such as CBCP, MBCP, or CHEP are highly desirable.
•Strategic Thinking & Leadership: Ability to contribute to the development and execution of a comprehensive vision and strategy for enterprise business continuity and emergency operations.
•Risk Management Expertise: Deep understanding of risk assessment methodologies, business impact analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
•Crisis Management & Decision-Making: Proven ability to support leadership and contribute to critical decisions under pressure in dynamic and high-stress environments.
•Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to influence and build consensus across all levels of the organization.
•Project Management & Execution: Strong project management skills with a proven track record of contributing to successful program implementation and execution.
•Must be able to work in high-stress environments during crisis situations.
•On-call availability during non-office hours to respond to and support the Emergency Operations Center during emergencies.
