The role

In today’s rapidly evolving retail environment, Category Management has quickly become a top growth priority and at Colgate-Palmolive, we are excited by the challenges this dynamic space brings. Our dedicated Category Management team is full of passionate individuals and we are seeking a leader with the same energy, diligence and positivity who can help us lead change for our business. We are looking for an inspirational leader and builder who can build the strategy for and deliver results against Colgate’s goals.

As the Associate CatMan Manager - Dollar General you will create and share compelling stories with Customers that provide insight to how shopper behaviors are influencing our categories. You will serve as the category expert by delivering insight-based engaging category presentations and highlighting opportunities. You will establish a solid customer relationship based on building thought leadership. As the category expert, you will scorecard and monitor the effectiveness of the 5Ps to ensure success in all that you do. This work includes new product introductions, pricing analyses, seasonal reviews and programs, promotional planning and evaluation, consumer usage analyses, and understanding the impact of assortment changes on category and brand growth. Utilizing category analysis, shopper insights and other available analytic tools you will apply your expertise to drive solutions for Colgate and our customers.

You will drive the discovery and use of consumer, customer, and market insights for use in building strategies across the Customer Development Team, category and planning, as well as customer communications, and initiatives that enhance brand and category performance.

Who you are

  • You're a storyteller - The ability to interpret and communicate shopper & consumer data and effectively integrate the insights to tell fact based stories to drive category solutions. You will develop customer presentations, recommendations for new item introductions, and conduct plan-o-gram reviews.

  • You can strategize - Initiating and synchronizing our brand strategies and priorities with customer strategies for an outcome where we all win, execute new product initiatives accordingly, and conduct promotional post-analysis.

  • You like to collaborate - In this role, you'll establish key partnerships that thrive on mutual trust and integrity in working relationships as consultants to the customer. We will also rely on you to communicate and reinforce brand strategies & objectives internally.

  • You know the systems - Strong proficiency in Nielsen, IRi, 84.51/Stratum & JDA and other customer point of sale systems are required so that we can provide reliable, fact based analysis. You’ll apply shelf management software and category expertise to provide recommendations for shelf placement for new items and existing products. You will also coordinate “Fair Share of Shelf” support and utilize plan-o-gram software.

  • You are a continuous improver - We are constantly looking for opportunities to improve and seek creative solutions to further drive the Colgate Palmolive business.

  • You are curious - Continue to grow your capabilities by staying abreast of developments and best practices in category management. It is expected that you will pursue the knowledge needed to improve departmental capabilities and improve professional competence. Be a key participant in the account-specific strategic planning process. Act as a strong, clear, objective, and inspiring voice on behalf of and within the NA CDO Enterprise.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 3+ years of consumer product sales or category management experience, or other relevant sales/marketing experience

  • 2+ years of experience analyzing syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI)

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets & Slides is required

  • Experience working with retailer POS data required

  • Availability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with customer Shopper Behavior Data (Luminate, Dunhumby, ExtraCare, 1010, etc.) preferred

  • Experience working with Household Panel data (Numerator, Nielsen Panel, ect.) preferred

  • JDA or other space planning experience preferred

  • Experience working in consumer product goods preferred

Salary Range $88,800 - $131,250 USD

Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
