Covenant Health NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST in Nashua, New Hampshire

The starting rate for this position is: $24.59

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients undergoing scans for diagnostic purposes. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will use the scanner to create images of various areas of the patient’s body which will emit radiation from the drugs to indicate the presences of diseases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.

  • Radiant Epic Access

  • Preparing and administrating radiopharmaceuticals orally or by injection or inhalation.

  • Explaining the imaging procedure to patients, answering questions and ensuring their comfort while placing them in the appropriate position for scanning.

  • Operating imaging equipment, such as SPECT /CT scanners.

  • Processing images of the brain, thyroid, bone, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver on the computer.

  • Keeping detailed records of the amount and type of radiopharmaceutical used and of the procedure.

  • Producing computer-generated images for interpretation by the physicians.

  • Following safety procedures to protect staff and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.

  • Maintaining current knowledge of the frequent advances, innovations, and developments in the field.

  • Other duties as consistent with this role.

    Job Requirements: (education and experience/preferred and required)

    Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Operating equipment and ensuring the safety of all medical staff and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.

  • Excellent technical and computer skills

  • Attention to detail.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.

    Education and Experience

  • NH license and certification to practice nuclear medicine required

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required

  • 1 year experience preferred

    An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

    Working Conditions/Physical Demands

    Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
