This posting is recruiting for 2 trainee positions. You only need to apply once to be considered for both positions.

The Motor Vehicles Professionals (MVP) Program is a starting point for an exciting career with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) at the Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV). It is a unique opportunity to be a part of an important mission and gain exposure to various exciting initiatives, operations, management and leadership at NCDOT/DMV. Through this 18-month full-time, paid program, you will gain exposure to a variety of opportunities in the various fields of discipline and work within NCDMV. As you progress through this structured program, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in the various units that comprise the scope of the DMV which include Business Services, Commissioner’s Office, Customer Compliance, Driver Services, License and Theft, Training and Development, Safety and Vehicle Services. The program is designed for highly motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to NCDMV’s operations including administrative, business, legislative and public relations.

ThisMVP Administrative Specialist I - Traineewill be assigned to theDriver Services section and the Central Issuance unit. In this role, you will be trained to issue renewals, and duplicate license/ ID cards to customers requesting endorsement and address changes via mail to residents who are temporarily residing outside of North Carolina. You will review and evaluate driver license convictions and suspensions to determine if a customer is eligible to make an application for driver license, learner permit, or level 3 license via mail, respond to customer inquiries via the phone and service account and process returned mail while updating customer records according to the returned mail guidelines. You will also receive training in updating, evaluating, and researching all documents, citations, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs), and court transactions to maintain the accuracy and consistency of individual driving records (in-state and out-of-state). This position is responsible for keying and scanning information related to a customer’s driving record. You will also process mail and emails for CDL medical certification certificates, self-cert forms and federal variances. This position provides customer service via email or telephone and processes Affidavits and Refusals, Failures to Comply, Appear, or Pay, Out-of-state citations, Military/Federal citations/DWIs, Returned/surrendered licenses (in- and out-of-state), Felony revocations, Withdrawals, Negates and Juvenile orders. In this role, you will interact with out-of-state court systems and other state DMV offices about customer records.

As anentry level professionalat the NCDOT/DMV,MVP Administrative Specialist I Traineesare offered a starting salary of $36,682and are eligible to receive salary adjustments with satisfactory work evaluations. Upon completion of the program, MVP Program Coordinators may be eligible to transfer into an Administrative Specialist I position at $50,438. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
