Purpose
Assist in supervision of water/wastewater, including focus on water distribution, collecting, and treatment, as well as wastewater management.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
Perform work under very limited supervision requiring the need to exercise independent judgement and discretion on a regular or frequent basis.
Position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but will serve as a lead/resource among team of colleagues in equivalent roles to share technical proficiency, guidance, and mentorship. May occasionally assist in delegation of assignments or provide feedback to managers.
At the Operational and Company Level
Assist senior management, when necessary, with business development activities for current and prospective clients.
Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements.
Act as advisor to engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations.
Do the Work
Manage and oversee all teams and project in the business unit, including those focused on water distribution, wastewater collection and the treatment of drinking water, and wastewater management, to ensure that the work is executed on time, on budget, and in accordance with the client's requirements and company policies and procedures.
Assist, as needed, in identifying new opportunities and developing new business with current and prospective clients.
Assist, as needed, with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.
Assist with and lead project execution as needed.
Assist in the training, mentoring, development, and supervision of engineering staff.
Provide work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
Help to develop and evaluate standardized criteria for project plans.
Participate as needed in proposal development.
Serve as liaison with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Research and collect outstanding monies due from clients.
Keep current on engineering trends and developments to recommend changes in program or design methods when necessary.

Basic understanding of financial reports and metrics.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline required.
Master's degree in civil engineering or related discipline preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
Minimum of ten (10) years of engineering experience in water and wastewater treatment to include project management; staff supervision, development, and mentoring; and client relationships.
Experience with governmental agencies.
Demonstrated experience in successful management of financial, marketing, human resources, and operations aspects of an engineering business unit.
Ability to travel domestically.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
Mobility around an office environment.
Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Partly outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
