This position focuses on working directly on inventing, developing and extending our internally developed API Gateway framework. Our mission is to meet Medtronic’s Global Application Services software development needs as well as our DataOps needs for security, data integration and management. Our framework is built using primarily Software AG webMethods and secondarily Mulesoft ESB. There is some support for AWS API Gateway as well. Our API Gateway product is built for all teams across Medtronic to use and interoperate their application interfaces and data integration needs. We are in the early stages of developing a robust data mesh service for business data interoperability, security, and interoperability.

A Day in the Life

  • Work closely with all team members on elements of the API Gateway and design, add, refactor, and improve capabilities for our stakeholders in either their application API needs, or in their ongoing data mesh integration needs

  • Participate in efforts to design, build, and develop rapid Proof-of-Concept (POC) solutions and services that quickly get added to our production service.The rapid POC method has proven effective in enhancing our product in a rapidly evolving market.

  • Work closely with our global security and identity access team to constantly keep our interfaces, access, identity, tokens, secrets, and all other security access and design specifications up-to-date and secure

  • Work with our Site Reliability Engineering Team (SRE) and test team to develop production code that incorporates the need for programmatic operations and fully automated testing

  • Be comfortable, skilled, and excited to work closely with stakeholders and clients and create positive interactions and relationships to continue to drive the value of the platform higher for their business needs

· Be an integral member of the core DevSecOps/Shared Services development team and help develop, test, deploy, and operate our services 24x7x365 globally

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of related experience

OR

Associate degree and 4-7 years of related experience

OR

High School Diploma and 7+ years of related experience

Nice to Have

  • A degree in computer science or related field

  • Experience as a full-stack software engineer shipping successful commercial products and/or services to customers using a SDLC process from start to finish

  • Product development experience designing, developing, deploying, and operating global products with expectation for 100% uptime service

  • Experience using one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, C, C++, Swift/Objective C, Python, Go, C#, or JavaScript.

  • Experience in User Interface (UI) development using modern web technologies and patterns such as MVC/MVP/MVVM, REST, HTML/CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript

  • Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, highly concurrent programming, and software design patterns with instrumentation for observability

  • Have a track record of being willing and able to learn new technologies at a rapid pace

  • Communication skills to work with client partners in articulating the vision of automation, DevSecOps, and DataOps.

  • Any experience or familiarity with FDA quality and validation processes is a plus
