We are seeking a dedicated Physician Substitute to determine the acceptability of first-time and return applicant donors. The role involves ensuring donor suitability by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in line with FDA guidance and regulations. The Physician Substitute will review donor laboratory tests and refer abnormal results to the Physician for further review. This position requires close collaboration with the Medical Director or Licensed Center Physician(s) and involves medical oversight in screening, phlebotomy, and plasma processing areas. Cross-training and successful qualification for phlebotomy and donor tech functions are mandatory.
Responsibilities
Determine the acceptability of first-time and return applicant donors.
Ensure donor suitability by following SOPs in accordance with FDA guidance and regulations.
Review normal donor laboratory tests and refer abnormal tests to the Physician for review.
Interpret health history and vital signs in relation to company procedures.
Set up automated collection instruments and monitor donors through the collection process.
Disconnect donors from automated instruments post-collection.
Work closely with the Medical Director or Licensed Center Physician(s) on donor suitability decisions.
Provide medical oversight in screening, phlebotomy, and plasma processing areas.
Complete and maintain qualification as a Physician Substitute.
Cross-train and qualify for phlebotomy and donor tech functions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
CPR certified or the ability to obtain certification.
Current RN, LPN, or Advanced EMT license in the state of the Donor Center.
Annual GMP training.
Previous experience in a blood or plasma collection center preferred.
Basic computer skills.
Minimum of 12 months in the health field preferred or a combination of experience and education equivalent to this requirement.
Work Environment
The work environment is within a Plasma Donation center, requiring extended periods of standing and bending. It fosters a team/family environment where repeat donors become familiar with the staff and team.
