Trinity Health is looking for an experienced Cook to join our Food and Nutrition Services Team! Benfits available on the first day, no more late nights ! We are a fry station free kitchen, so no grease traps or oil, leave your shift smelling like hard work instead of a basket of old fries. The kitchen is temperature controlled, which is great for summer, but an escape to the cooler during a busy shift is still welcome. 2nd shift 12:00noon-8:00 PM

Position Summary:

Responsible for performing various food service duties and customer service for the Nutrition Services Department. Works with clinical dietitians, individual nursing units, patients, and guests.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for opening and closing the department and maintaining departmental security.

  • Responsible for the financial management of the department.

  • Follows standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines to ensure proper preparation of food items, meeting food safety and sanitation guidelines.

  • Provides input on changing and developing menus and recipes to enhance customer satisfaction.

  • May be responsible for menu development.

  • Prepares meals using batch, large quantity and short order types of cooking

  • Ability to adjust recipes to meet desired yield needs.

What you will need:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Serve Safe Certified or obtain Certification within 6 months of hire

  • One year restaurant/institution cooking, one year of retail store cashiering or 1 year as Mercy Health FANS colleague.

  • Preferred: Previous large volume cooking experience and line cooking/formal culinary training
