Danaher Corporation Manufacturing Operations Manager - Resins in Muskegon, Michigan

As the Resins Operations Manager, you will be the unit leader responsible for staff management, product quality, LEAN productivity improvements and financial management. You will be a role model being clear on Cytiva values and culture. You will be the receiver of a batch manufacturing factory and will be interfacing with the Design and Build organization and the Technology Transfer teams to assure that processes operate per design and products meet performance requirements.

What you’ll do:

  • Help develop and execute short- and long-term workforce plans, hiring a diverse team of engineers, supervisors, and operators in support of Chromatography Resin production.

  • Create a collaborative and high performing culture that embraces LEAN manufacturing principles by instilling trust, working at GEMBA, implementing Kaizen. Enforce win as a team and deliver results principles on an ongoing basis.

  • Be responsible for environmental, process safety and life safety performance in your area where the pursue of zero injuries and incidents is realized.

  • Work closely with local and Swedish Cytiva associates in the startup, qualification and commissioning of the resin manufacturing organization; taking control and custody of the factory and associated operations.

  • Promote the Cytiva Quality Policy and Drive Quality Management System improvement for products and processes by partnering with various teams. Be highly proactive in identification of potential or actual manufacturing issues, training gaps, and procedure improvement opportunities while maintaining robust change control methodology.

  • Coach and develop engineers and operators to support IQ/OQ/PQ validation activities in the short term; process changes, upgrades and new product introduction in the long term. Assure that all use good project management techniques to secure designed outcomes.

  • Be responsible for the department safety performance.

    Who you are:

  • BS in an engineering discipline (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.)

  • Eight years or more of production/manufacturing experience with four or more years of management/people leader experience.

  • Lean manufacturing understanding and experience in basic tools.

  • Working knowledge of the OSHA Process Safety Management program.

  • Willingness to travel internationally to Sweden to learn the resin manufacturing process from an operating plant

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Life science, pharmaceutical, or chemical industry with experience in Good Manufacturing Practices and QMS adherence.

  • A working understanding of process controls DCS system, process historians, and data integrity techniques.

  • Financial skills including creation of a basic department level operating budget and how to periodically report outwards and upwards

Additional Requirements

  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and carrying materials up to 15 lbs; occasional use of stairs up to 4 stories and use of straight ladders up to 20 feet.

  • Working in the field will require the applicant to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and other necessary PPE for several hours/duration of their field time.

  • Some exposure to high noise areas is expected requiring the use of hearing protection such as ear plugs or earmuffs.

  • Ability to use a computer, including MS Excel, Outlook, and Word; and other job-related software for 8 hours a day.
