Job Description:

Medical Director-Musculoskeletal Clinical Program-Podiatry oversees a Musculoskeletal Service Line subspecialty and provides strategic direction, leadership, oversight, and support for a region-wide Musculoskeletal physician team and develops a culture of highly reliable, high value care for patients. The Medical Director communicates with all Musculoskeletal care providers across the region. The Medical Director partners and collaborates with other leaders in the Musculoskeletal Service Line to create a professional and positive environment for providers to work. The Medical Director champions provider growth and development, innovation, continuous improvement, and is accountable for the successes of the Musculoskeletal Service Line. The Medical Director promotes excellence in the fundamentals of extraordinary care by advancing the service line goals and Intermountain values and operation model with teams across the region

Job Essentials

  • Physician Clinical leader for all Musculoskeletal Providers within the Podiatry subspecialty across the health system.

  • Maintains clinical responsibilities as a Podiatrist in an active practice and maintains high clinical standards.

  • Plans and leads subspecialty meetings with Podiatry providers system wide.

  • Leads physician collaborations in the Musculoskeletal Clinical Program for the Podiatry subspecialty.

  • Participates as the Podiatry subspecialty content expert with the Value Analysis Team as an ad hoc member.

  • Designs and partners to implement care models that best meet the needs of patients with Musculoskeletal needs, conditions, and diagnoses. Leads the process to identify where care should be provided with service line leadership and providers.

  • Communicates regularly to inform and connect Musculoskeletal providers across the system.

  • Collaborates with other members of the Clinical Program, Service Lines, operations, clinical services, specialty care, and community care team to develop care pathways for Musculoskeletal conditions.

  • Assists service line leadership, specialty care, and Medical Group in the recruitment process.

  • Evaluates opportunities to scale resources across the region using technology (e.g., telemedicine).

  • Serves as a system expert for peer review for Musculoskeletal cases in the Podiatry subspecialty and ensures a rapid response to requests to evaluate care or concerns.

  • Participates in the Musculoskeletal Clinical Program strategic planning process. Helps develop annual goals and ensures goals and objectives are achieved.

  • Supports appropriate research endeavors for the Musculoskeletal Clinical Program and collaborates with the Office of Research.

  • Provides specialty specific review and consultation as requested by Select Health.

  • Provides specialty specific consultation as requested by Digital Technology Services and Enterprise Analytics.

Minimum Qualifications

DPM Education must be obtained through a CMPE-accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

ABFAS or ABPM Board Certification in Podiatry.

Active Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure.

Three years of clinical experience working as an Orthopedic Surgeon in Podiatry subspecialty.

Two years of experience leading successful improvement in clinical settings.

  • and

Two years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.

  • and

Experience with change management and leading in the adaptation and implementation of new processes or technology that enhance safety.

  • and

Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Trained in improvement science (i.e., Six Sigma, Lean, Project management, Advanced Training Program).

  • and

Experience working in a complex health system (e.g., hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care).

  • and

Demonstrated leadership of clinicians.

$7.25 - $999.99
