MURRAY CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Electrician in MURRAY, Utah

RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor and maintain district wide electrical services to assure safety and functionality; determine demand and electrical needs specific to various educational and operations environments; receive notification of power issues, locate and determine cause of malfunction or outages; test and repair various components of the power supply system, test and repair electrical equipment; provide electrical repair for small motors, equipment, light fixtures, buffers, custodial and kitchen equipment etc., as requested by supervisor, administrators, district personnel; repair electrical components to PA systems, alarm systems, etc.; monitor special need environments, i.e., computer labs, design and layout electrical projects, install extensions, lines, plugs, jacks and related devices as required; conduct ongoing electrical inspection of system and services; troubleshoots electrical system generators, heater, motors, etc., evaluate electrical emergencies, troubleshoot as able or secure assistance from outside vendors or community power utility; oversee emergency backup power system to assure uninterrupted access and operation of telecommunication and data management systems; assist as required with various seasonal maintenance and operations tasks such as snow removal, grounds maintenance, sprinkler system installation and repair; detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards; assure maintenance activities and procedures conform to federal, state and local safety standards; other duties as assigned by Coordinator of Buildings and Grounds.  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  HS Graduate and two (2) years specialized training provided through professional workshops, seminars or on-the-job training; and five (5) years responsible experience performing above and related duties; specific experience in electrical system management is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:  Working knowledge of general electrical engineering principles and practices; safety environment associated with power projects, construction and maintenance, equipment and materials used in construction and maintenance operations; current codes, standards, safety practices and principles involved in electrical projects; some knowledge of construction techniques and methods related to carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electronics, HVAC, and interpersonal communication skills; skill in the use of hand and power tools common to electrical installation and maintenance; ability to analyze a variety of routine electrical issues and problems and make recommendations.
