Position Summary: Describe below the primary purpose and function of this job
The primary purpose of the role is to provide rigorous quantitative and qualitative analytical credit analysis of public and private companies issuing bonds and loans within the corporate and financial services sectors. The individual will help to manage and continuously enhance the independent credit risk oversight of TIAA’s corporate investments portfolio. The analyst will perform portfolio risk analysis including scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis , and portfolio stress testing and provide effective credit risk advice and guidance to the risk management stakeholders.
Key Duties & Responsibilities : List up to 5 key duties and responsibilities, management responsibilities and time spent (if applicable)
Assist in the oversight of the credit risk management process, the execution of TIAA ’s internal risk rating system, and data and reporting management at the bond/loan and portfolio-level for the corporate investments portfolio.
Conduct thorough credit assessments of corporate clients, including financial statement analysis, industry research, and evealuation of business strategies and management capabilities.
Provide effective credit risk advice and guidance to risk management stakeholders and drive the continuous improvement of the execution of TIAA’s internal credit risk management system.
Develop portfolio-level credit risk analysis to identify credit risk migration, trends, risk concentrations, and emerging risks and develop and put forward credit risk mitigation strategies.
Assist in the development of executive-level reports and presentations for senior management, the Board and regulators.
Partners with other divisions/risk functions across the organization to ensure consistency in processes, assumptions, definitions and methodologies.

The additional resources in India would work on improving the existing infrastructure of credit risk review and oversight and thus create greater resiliency for the US team, make time available to accelerate efforts to improve the existing credit risk oversight process.
Area of Impact - What is the breadth of the impact that this job has, either positive or negative (i.e., affects own team, department, function, business unit, geography, entire business, etc.)?
The immediate positive impact will be on the team (Financial Risk Architecture, Product Financial Risk Management, and the Credit Risk Rating Group). However, there will be significant secondary positive impacts which will flow to the whole organization through the work that is done by the team, namely dynamic credit risk oversight and asset allocation for the GAO, the measurement of potential capital at risk and contribution to the oversight of TIAA’s Asset Liability Management (ALM) , Interest Rate Risk, and Credit Risk Management functions. The credit analyst has exposure to senior leaders across risk management, asset management, portfolio management, and other financial services teams.

The nature of the role requires the incumbent to posses strong analytical and quantitative credit skills and a proven ability to provide sound and reasoned credit analysis of companies within the corporate and financial services sectors.
Functional Knowledge: What knowledge of concepts, process, principles or procedures is needed within discipline; SME?
Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to interpret financial statements and assess credit risk.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and present complex credit information clearly and concisely.
Proficiency in using financial software and tools such as Moody’s RiskCalc, Bloomberg, or similar platforms .
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Financial market knowledge – knowledge of equity markets, bond markets, credit spreads and ratings
Business or Industry Expertise: Describe the degree of knowledge and understanding required of TIAA’s business and industry, commercial environment and of competitors products and services.
General understanding of how asset management firms work
Experience with financial markets and have an understanding of the fixed income and equity asset classes.
Interactions / Interpersonal Skills: Describe the nature and level of interactions this job has with others, both internally and externally. Explain any specific interpersonal skills necessary to successfully perform this role (i.e., negotiation skills, represents business at external events or to governmental bodies, etc. ).

Required Education:
BA/BS
Bachelors in Commerce, Accounting, or Economics ,
Specialization in finance and accounting
Preferred Education:
Masters
CFA, CA, CPA, Master's degree in Business / Statistics or related field.
Required Experience:
3-5 years
Credit Risk Analysis, Financial Risk Management, knowledge of credit risk modeling techniques and the ability to use financial models, database management
Preferred Experience:
5-10 years
5 – 10 Years Financial Risk related experience with at least 3 to 5 years current / ongoing experience
Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of Financial risk including credit risk, market risk, investment risk and model risk amongst others
Previous experience working in either Banking/Investment Banking, Credit Rating Agency, Asset Management and/or Insurance firm desired
Proficiency with Moody’s RiskCalc, Bloomberg, and equivalent tools
Knowledge of Capital Markets
Proficiency in Finance and Accounting
Experience in Banking and Financial Services preferred
Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving, analytical mindset, communication, and people management skills.
Good knowledge of Technology, Risk Tools
Good knowledge on Risk / Reward analysis
