As the Area Learning Lead (ALL), you will act as the Chief Learning Officer and be responsible to maximize effectiveness of the learning programs for all commercial audiences (customers, partners, developers, students,…) and employees in your Area.

As the Area Learning Lead for India and South Asia you will partner across your Area’s organization as well as the regional and global teams, to:

  • Represent Microsoft’s Learning Program externally and internally as a member of the Extended Area leadership team

  • Be accountable for driving the Area skilling plan and achieve the expected business outcomes

  • Lead and partner to execute the learning programs and achieve the key results aligned to WWL objectives

  • Represent to voice of the learners to help simplify, optimize and bring innovation into the skilling programs

  • Excell as a people manager and lead a team of silling program managers, and orchestrate all WWL resources in the Area

This senior role will be a key member of the extended Area Leadership team, and will be accountable for driving successful execution across a number of learning programs, especially our Enterprise Skilling Initiative to help grow skilled professionals on AI, Copilot and Security as a priority, to accelerate cloud revenue growth, as well as different programs to support our employees in their technical and professional capability development.

The ALL will represent Microsoft in the market regarding our approach to learning and development, including interaction with CLO’s and other C-level roles across our customers and partners. This role will be a top evangelist for our Microsoft Learn platform, as well as a leading voice in driving transformation of the learning culture in the market and within Microsoft in the area. They will lead a skilling V-team across the Go-to-Market, Marketing, Partners, Microsoft Philanthropies,… to coordinate the skilling efforts.

The ALL will lead the end-to-end skilling plan to build the skills needed to transform the market to help our sellers to be more effective and customers to acquire the skilling needed to implement projects. The ALL will work to optimize utilization of all skilling resources including our Digital assets, Microsoft Technical Trainers and others programs. The ALL will also engage with the Partner Sales executives and directly with Training Services Providers executives to secure the needed capacity for their Area.

The role will report directly into the Asia Regional Learning Lead and will manage a team consisting of Skilling Program Managers, Training Program Managers and Field Enablement Managers.

In that role, you will also continuously work to actively evaluate, scale, and adjust the programs and initiatives underway to optimize the business outcomes and impact, seek feedback from learners and the ecosystem, and serve as a key representative for India and South Asia Area into Microsoft’s regional and worldwide learning team. Success metrics will include target attainment, effective capability development, and the business relevance and impact of these skills.

Responsibilities

  1. Build a comprehensive Area learning plan, supporting Area priorities and leveraging worldwide learning programs and resources. The plan will include mutually agreed success criteria for business impact with the Area leadership team.

  2. Orchestrate and monitor the end to end learning and readiness program across all contributors and stakeholders, including senior business leaders, through a regular virtual team and governance rhythm. Establish required business rhythms with Leadership, key stakeholders and key influencers in the Area and in the Region,

  3. Foster a relevant learning culture internally and externally to the company, acting as trusted advisor for learning and skills development, and the Chief Learning Officer for your Area. Demonstrate thought leadership in contributing to Microsoft’s, customers and partners competitiveness through learning.

  4. Develop a plan, integrate with account teams and marketing for optimal execution, and successfully achieve WWL targets by quarter and for the full fiscal year: this may include volume of Learners on strategic solutions areas, credentials, …

  5. Be a key voice in the development and execution of a comprehensive multi- year plan to drive Digital Skills in market, with a focus among others on technical communities, partners, customers, education, public sector, and other key market players, with the objective to increase the competencies and certifications in the market around Microsoft’s key offers.

  6. Develop and ensure the successful execution of a coherent learning and development approach for new hires, managers, and target internal roles, with a specific focus on driving impact through reinforcement of Microsoft Customer Engagement Methodology and enablement of key sales priorities, as well as fostering effective career coaching.

  7. Represent Microsoft in C-level customer and partner engagements to share our voice and vision for enablement through technical and non-technical learning, in close alignment with the account teams. Analyze and understand market needs and play an active role in defining Microsoft’s learning offers for partners and customers.

  8. Serve as relevant and informed voice of the Field learning champion; oversee Field/Partner skills dashboard and performance measurement, gather relevant local feedback and provide insights to contribute to Microsoft’s worldwide learning evolution.

  9. Build a diverse, inclusive and high performing team of professionals. Hire, retain and develop talents by leveraging Microsoft Manager Excellence framework.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years broad business experience and project lead in corporate sales, marketing, or services environment, ideally within the IT or a related industry. Learning and capability development experience and or South East Asia experience desirable.

  • Deep Field experience and understanding of factors that motivate and drive results within technical, sales and marketing organizations, including quota carrying sales experience and /or channel or technical community development.

  • In-depth experience with industry, technical, and professional skills knowledge and sales capabilities. Familiarity with Microsoft offerings (products and cloud services), processes, and tools preferred. Management experience required.

  • Proven trusted advisor status in engagement and influence with senior leaders. Experience in change management and leading complex, organization-wide programs and projects.

  • Excellent communications skills and executive presence; ability to represent Microsoft and be inspirational and influential in mobilizing customers, partners, communities and our internal teams around a culture of learning.

  • Proven cross boundary collaboration capabilities.

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability with an ability to manage through ambiguity and positively manage conflict to drive positive business results.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a remote team, driving successful outcomes with virtual teams.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required with master’s degree preferred.

  • English language fluency

  • Estimated up to 25% travel required (Regional and international).
