 Our team (Core fabric) is part of larger Microsoft 365 Core which builds the infrastructure, platforms, AI/ML and collaboration & communications backbone for Microsoft 365. You’ll work closely with the PM, Eng and data science leaders within this group to deliver combined value across a wide set of partners and scenarios. The Core Fabric team is the backbone of M365 Copilot and other analytics solutions built on top of M365 data. Our value for Copilot is to provide the complete platform for inner loop and outer loop development of offline artifacts that accelerates development of use cases. Core Fabric provides Azure technology-based platform solution on top of Substrate for compliant and at-scale development of data & model artifacts for M365 developers & scientists. 

We are looking for an experienced  Principal Product Manager * * to lead the platform that allows Developers and Data Scientists to perform complaint data processing and model training/Fine tuning. This platform offering is critical to improve copilot response quality and is a key part of M365 strategy to help our customers improve their business processes via specialized copilots. This puts us in a unique position in the industry to provide high-value for our customers through M365 Copilot offering.  

We are looking for someone who can lead innovation and collaborate across different product teams to define a multi-year strategy for this area. This is fundamentally about two things: (1) product thinking as to how the platform capabilities can enable our 1P partners to solve real customer needs across Microsoft 365 copilot experiences and (2) drive platform innovations to help streamline end to end process from data processing to model training and evaluation, to help us accelerate rate of improvements and innovation in M365 Copilot apps. You will drive the vision and strategy for your products and sell our big bets to our executives and partner teams, ensuring that we have their support. You will work across engineering teams to drive architecture decisions, finance teams to drive business models, and compliance and privacy teams to ensure we’re building a solution that meets our customer data protection promises. We are a platform team so technical background is needed, you’ll utilize good product instincts to guide how the platform capabilities will create value across apps. You will build a vision for the underlying technology choices and guide the team through landing and our partners through adopting it. You will build and grow the brain trust of Product thinkers who deeply understand developer needs as they build planet scale services. You will strive to understand the motivations and goals of the partner teams we’re working with and work towards a better solution together.

You’ll have a lot of experience across things like creating and executing on platform strategies, thinking about the “Platform as the Product”, distributed cloud services, partner collaboration, competitor analysis, core PM skills like product planning, prioritization techniques, OKRs, and data analytics, etc. All facets are beneficial for this role and our team; the more of these you have, the better.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Thinking  – There's a lot we are being asked to do. We need someone who can help outline WHAT, WHY, and WHEN. We need someone who thrives when thinking about how to drive non-linear growth. This will require customer research, high bandwidth partner conversations, ideation & brainstorming, and value judgements. You’ll need to be able to step above the day-to-day and think long-term to give your team a vision. You should be able to define what success looks like for your team and product and how you will measure and achieve it.

  • Curiosity and Customer Empathy  - We’re looking to develop our PMs as those who are curious and seek to deeply understand our customers, internal partners, and their challenges. We need someone who keeps digging past the simple customer ask to reveal their true, unmet needs, leading to innovative and high value features.

  • Technical Horsepower  – This is a platform PM role working on an evolving Copilot platform and you’ll be expected to participate and influence architectural conversations. We are looking for someone who can thrive in a fast paced and ambiguous space that is rapidly evolving.

  • Communicator*and Influencer * – This is a heavily influential role that requires a communicator who can influence our LT, your peers and your team through written and oral communication. You should be able to adapt with the rapid change in product direction and get buy-in from stakeholders. You will need to ensure appropriate and effective communication flow among internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborator  – Partnering with others is at the heart of this role. You’ll not only partner with software engineers, but also data science, data engineers, privacy and compliance managers, other product managers and other peers across the globe. Great collaborators aren’t just easy to work with – they also raise tough questions, challenge others as necessary and negotiate win/win solutions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years’ experience in product/service/project/program management or software development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience building products across large scale platform/ecosystem, or marketplaces.

  • Understanding of LLM and AI technologies, data analytics and processing systems, and quality evaluation systems.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and shipping highly technical features.

  • Proven track record of delivering successful products that delight users and drive business outcomes.

  • Ability to work effectively across teams and functions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passion for Microsoft’s mission and values.

  • Demonstrated understanding of micro-services architecture, cloud technologies and developer platforms.

  • Experience in working across geo distributed team.
