The ACT Employment Specialist Intern provides oversight of all vocational services for individuals participating with the ACT team. The Employment Specialist ensures that the team prioritizes recovery and promotes employment and/or continuing education in all aspects of the work. As a core member of the team, the Vocational Specialist contributes to all central functions, including development and review of treatment plans and other documentation.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides compassionate, recovery based, and trauma informed services that are in line with the transitional practice framework.

  • Engages in discussions and activities based on collaboration and hope.

  • Actively engages participants to explore and pursue work and/or school.

  • Conveys hope and inspiration by promoting recovery, facilitating interactions with peers in the workforce, and celebrating participants’ efforts and achievements.

  • Connects Participants and family members with community resources and supports them in developing new recovery relationships through activities.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONAL / ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT:

  • Shares the responsibility of providing generalist services to participants with other ACT members, including care coordination, treatment planning, organizing wraparound supports and conducting assessments as needed.

  • Trains ACT team members on the value of work and school and IPS principles and practices.

  • Participates in all daily team meetings.

  • Assignments may be determined at a future date

    QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Previous experience in vocational services field is preferred.

  • Strong organization skills with accurate attention to detail.

  • Sufficient skills to communicate effectively with both clients and staff.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be a current graduate level Social Work student.

    PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Must be capable to sit or stand in front of a computer for moderate-periods of time

  • Able to work in open space floor plan

  • Must be capable to move throughout work day and follow individuals

  • Work alongside individuals within 3 feet

  • Occasional lifting of > _15+pounds
