The team is part of the Developer Productivity and Happiness organization with the mission to empower LinkedIn engineers to ship high quality features, with confidence and high velocity. We provide infrastructure, tooling and experiences that enable and promote automatic validations, diagnostics, and analytics across various stages of the development lifecycle and various technology stacks. We partner with organizations and engineering teams across the company to build the right strategy and investments that boost engineering productivity and product quality.

As a Sr Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for shaping the company-wide vision for validation and product quality, in partnership with engineering leaders across the company. You will be driving investments based anywhere from industry best practices to innovative new technologies, addressing unique LinkedIn challenges and the ever-evolving technical landscape. The responsibilities include anything from building large scale validation infrastructure to testing frameworks, intelligent diagnostics and analytics, or user experiences, all with the goal of keeping your fellow engineers productive and effective in shipping high quality products.

Responsibilities:

•Shape and execute on the validation and product quality strategy by leading multiple initiatives across the company.

•Own and drive the technical roadmap and architecture for the validation infrastructure and processes.

•Design and build high performance large scale systems to measure and validate the quality of LinkedIn products with clear, actionable insights.

•Identify and design quality signals and drive alignment on product and code quality metrics.

•Build innovative solutions with the application of AI&ML technologies to provide intelligent diagnostics and productivity enhancements.

•Design and build testing frameworks, tools, libraries and user experiences that effortlessly enable engineers to validate their code changes and ship high quality features with high velocity.

•Own, manage and extend services and infrastructure, constantly improving and adding new features, while driving operational excellence.

•Promote and drive best practices and industry standards across the company.

•Partner with engineers across the company to guide, influence and iterate on their validation strategies and build best in class engineering productivity solutions.

•Lead and mentor the next generation of engineering leaders by building a culture of craftsmanship and innovation.

Basic Qualifications:

•BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.

•5+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions

•5+ years of experience in programming languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, C#

•2+ years of experience in an architect or technical leadership position

Preferred Qualifications:

•BS and 10+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 6+ years of relevant work experience.

•Experience architecting and launching large complex projects.

•Passion for product and code quality, and familiarity with current trends and best practices.

•Experience with CI/CD pipelines, common deployment models and infrastructure, and various types of A/B experimentation used to safely introduce change into production environments.

•Experience designing and building applications infrastructure, understanding application validation and debugging methodologies at scale.

•Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.

•Experience with strategic planning, executing on a long term roadmap, team development and scaling processes to support business growth.

•Experience leading by influence, formulating and driving technical strategies across various organizations.

The pay range for this role is $171,000 to $280,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
