We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join the team!
Our team – CRC (Cloud Readiness Certified), within SCHIE, drives the hardware, firmware and infrastructure software validation lifecycle and is accountable for the quality experience of our cloud customers. Our goal is to exceed customer expectations in every aspect related to infrastructure quality. Therefore, we focus heavily on automating the validation processes from inception and throughout the entire h/w lifecycle. We invest in systems that continuously monitor the hardware quality in production, predict hardware failures, detect behavioral anomalies, and mitigate issues before they impact customers. Responsibilities
Be part of the concept design discussions, gather node/rack system level requirements, clarify interfaces, provide feedback into future design requirements to help develop robust cloud hardware validation strategies.
Gather all the software engineering automation requirements for validating cloud hardware systemsby working with engineering groups and other stakeholders.
Work with ODMs, other system engineers, internal design teams and customers to develop validation execution plans for new technologies and MSFT IP features.
Write softwareautomation for different qualification phases of programs.
Work with ODMs, Silicon vendors, component suppliers and internal design teams on cross-boundary triaging, debugging, and resolving issues.
Review automation validation coverage throughout the lifecycle of the program and publish plan vs. progress reports.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure systems meet significant quality, reliability, and service level requirements for a cloud environment.
Architect cloud test scenarios and guide software engineers to automate test flows.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
6+ years of relevant experience designing processes for server systems/platformvalidationin enterprise or cloud market segments.
6+ years of relevant experience writing software automation for qualifying advanced server systems/platforms.
Other :
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in debugging complex system-level issues with the ability to root-cause/identify potential fixes down to board hardware, signal integrity, CPLD, thermal and Firmware components, or operating system.
Experience in evaluating server systems/platform performance tuning and optimizations.
Experience in Server platform HW designs or Server platform validation with knowledge of system level firmware.
Experience in platform level test architecture and usage of debug tools like (ITP, Arium, ARM JTAG tools or equivalent).
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
