US Tech Solutions Metal-organics Porous Material Lab Chemist in Mountain View, California

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Materials Chemist to join our growing team working on the development and characterization of porous materials.

  • You will play a key role in synthesizing, optimizing, and analyzing these materials for direct air carbon capture (DAC).

  • This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment and contribute to cutting-edge projects with the potential for real-world impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct synthesis and processing of various porous materials, including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent-organic frameworks (COFs), zeolites, silicas, metal oxides, porous polymers, and composites.

  • Perform characterization of materials using techniques like gas sorption, FTIR, TGA, NMR, XRD, and electron microscopy.

  • Assist with the development, optimization, formulation and manufacturing scale-up of novel materials for specific applications.

  • Contribute to the design and execution of experiments, analyze data, and prepare technical reports.

  • Stay current with the latest advancements in porous materials research and contribute to the team's knowledge base.

  • Collaborate effectively with team members from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.

  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Experience in laboratory settings and familiarity with basic chemical equipment and techniques.

  • Strong understanding of fundamental chemical principles and concepts.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Effective communication and writing skills.

  • Proficient in Google Docs, Slides, and basic data analysis software.

Desired:

  • Experience with specific characterization techniques like gas sorption, XRD, or NMR is a plus.

  • Knowledge of porous materials and their applications is a plus but not required.

Education:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
