The Work

The Google Cloud Engineer / Terraform Developer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing GCP infrastructures and solutions using Terraform. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping, implementing, and supporting clients' cloud platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Architecture Design and Implementation: Define and implement cloud architecture strategies and roadmaps aligned with business goals and technical requirements. Design scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant GCP architectures using best practices and patterns. Evaluate and select appropriate GCP services and technologies to meet specific project needs. Create and maintain architectural diagrams, documentation, and blueprints.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform: Develop, maintain, and deploy infrastructure using Terraform. Manage Terraform state effectively, utilizing remote backends as needed. Create and maintain reusable Terraform modules. Integrate Terraform with CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure deployments.

  • Cloud Migration and Modernization: Develop and execute comprehensive cloud migration plans, including assessment, planning, migration, and optimization phases. Refactor and modernize existing applications and infrastructure for optimal performance on GCP. Identify and mitigate risks associated with cloud migration.

  • GCP Services Expertise: Utilize and manage GCP services including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud VPN, Cloud Interconnect, and Cloud Monitoring/Logging. Experience with Cloud Spanner is a plus.

  • Infrastructure Management: Provision, configure, and manage GCP resources using IaC. Monitor and maintain the health and performance of GCP infrastructure, proactively identifying and resolving issues. Implement cost optimization strategies to ensure efficient utilization of GCP resources. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for effective infrastructure management.

  • Automation and DevOps: Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and management of GCP resources. Foster a culture that promotes collaboration between development, operations, and security teams.

  • Security and Compliance: Design and implement security controls and measures to protect GCP infrastructure and data from unauthorized access, threats, and vulnerabilities. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and data privacy standards. Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify and remediate risks. Implement and manage IAM roles and permissions.

  • Collaboration and Mentorship: Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and collaboration on GCP projects. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers on GCP best practices and technologies. Stay up-to-date with the latest GCP developments and industry trends, sharing knowledge with the team.

Travel may be required for this role. The amount of travel will vary from 0 to 100% depending on business need and client requirements.

Here's what you need

Minimum 2 years of experience in the following:

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Terraform, including module creation and utilization , and state management.

  • Git for version control.

  • CI/CD pipelines.

  • Scripting languages (Bash, Python)

  • Linux command-line interface and system administration.

  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, subnets, firewalls).

  • I mplementing security best practices in cloud environments.

    Experience with GCP services (detailed experience levels listed below):

  • Compute Engine: 2+ years

  • Kubernetes Engine (GKE): 2+ years

  • Cloud Storage: 1+ years

  • Cloud SQL: 1+ years

  • Cloud Spanner: 1+ year (preferred)

  • Networking (VPC, Cloud VPN, Cloud Interconnect): 2+ years

  • Cloud Functions: 1+ year

  • Cloud Run: 1+ year

  • Monitoring and Logging (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging): 1+ y ears

  • IAM: 1+ years

  • Billing and Cost Optimization: 1+ years

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent (minimum 12 years) work experience. (If Associate’s Degree, must have minimum 6 years work experience)

Bonus points if you have

  • Google Cloud Certifications (Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect highly preferred).

  • Experience with large-scale data warehousing and big data technologies.

  • Experience with Vertex AI and Generative AI tools (Generative AI Studio, Model Garden).

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
