Google Antenna Design Engineer, Pixel Product in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering specializing in Antenna, Radio Frequency, or Electromagnetics, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience working in electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., CST, XFDTD, HFSS), or circuit simulation capability using Advance Design Systems (ADS), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering specializing in Antenna, Radio Frequency, or Electromagnetics.

  • 1 year of experience using different wireless communication systems such as GSM/UMTS/CDMA/LTE/FR1/FR2, 802.11, Bluetooth, GPS.

  • 1 year of experience in designing antenna system solutions for consumer electronics, especially devices or mobile phones.

  • Experience using common RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, protocol and signaling testers) and/or antenna chambers.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., FCC, IC, CE, etc.) and cellular industry standards and specifications (e.g., CTIA, PTCRB, Wi-Fi alliance etc.).

Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

As an Antenna Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of new and cutting edge consumer electronics for the home and mobile space. You will work as part of this team to deliver innovative antenna solutions that push the limits on what’s possible for radiation performance, while achieving the goals of our industrial design, all while delivering at low cost. You will design, test, optimize and implement compact and efficient antenna solutions for 5G cellular, WLAN, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.15.4 and new application areas.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Engage in cross-functional team engagement defining overall product architecture to negotiate and achieve the best possible balance of design goals (e.g., cost, performance, etc.) for each product.

  • Co-develop antenna architecture with Radio Frequency (RF), mechanical, industrial design and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout engineers.

  • Design and integrate antennas for compact consumer electronics with high performance and manufacturability.

  • Create and drive OTA factory test plans/stations for mass production. Test antenna and wireless Over-The-Air (OTA) performance.

  • Produce and clearly communicate all OTA performance and progress information to relevant audiences, from engineers and program managers to executives.
